Sisyrinchium angustifolium

Blue-eyed grass

Sisyrinchium angustifolium is a native flowering plant found throughout the southeast. It grows best in full sun to part shade, and in soils that are moist to occasionally dry. The foliage of this plant is grass-like (however it is in the same family as Iris) and it stays green year round. It produces purplish blue flowers in the spring and summer that attract pollinators. It is fairly resistant to deer. Sisyrinchium angustifolium is an excellent plant in a yard or rain garden, and also works well for restoration projects.
