Quercus pagoda

Cherrybark oak

Quercus pagoda is an oak native and endemic to the southeastern coastal plain (it does not naturally occur anywhere else). It is cultivated in a wider geographic range and grows best in moist sites, although it can tolerate drier conditions. Quercus pagoda is highly valued as timber, primarily for furniture. It is a good tree for restoration projects and erosion control, or as a street tree. Oak acorns are an important food source for much of our wildlife, and oak trees serve as important hosts to much of our butterfly, pollinator, and insect life.
